Mainmark has led the world in offering unique, innovative solutions for foundation repair, and rectifying problems for council assets.
Councils have a duty of care to citizens to maintain council-owned infrastructure. Mainmark has deep expertise working with councils to remediate structural damage caused by subsidence, weak ground, weak foundations, and other ground stabilisation issues, such as earthquake-induced liquefaction in seismic regions.
For more than 25 years, Mainmark ground engineering and asset preservation solutions have assisted councils to extend the life of important infrastructure and re-level and re-support sinking buildings.
Roads, community centres, car parks, and other council facilities require regular upkeep to maximise their utility and maintain standards of safety. However, sinking slabs and sinking floors can cause extensive damage, with the emergence of surface hazards to foot and vehicle traffic, persistent water ingress and other visible signs of deterioration just some of the common outcomes.
Mainmark has extensive experience applying its state-of-the-art ground engineering solutions to help remediate council assets affected by subsidence or dilapidation. We can lift and re-level buildings, avoiding the expense, inconvenience and disruption associated with traditional underpinning. Our minimally-invasive techniques allow councils, in many instances, to remediate structures without the need to vacate buildings or close access to infrastructure.
When ageing infrastructure needs to be decommissioned, Mainmark can fill in-ground pipes without the disruption and cost of excavation by using highly flowable solutions that can be pumped across long distances to fill large voids and pipes.
Mainmark uses environmentally inert, non-toxic solutions that are long-lasting and reliable, protecting the structure and increasing its resilience for years to come.
We help councils solve multiple problems
-
- Provide fast and efficient solutions to fix council assets such as roads, car parks, swimming pools, libraries and community centres, by addressing the effects of subsidence and weak ground including re-levelling and re-supporting sinking foundations and surfaces
- Identify site specific remediation approaches using one or more of our innovative solutions, including Teretek engineered resin injection, Terefil lightweight cementitious fill and JOG Computer-Controlled Grouting
- Deliver non-disruptive fill solutions for council assets impacted by large voids and holes caused by subsidence or ageing . We fill large holes and voids with Terefil, a lightweight fast-flowing cementitious fill solution that provides long-lasting and reliable ground stability.
- Remediate council facilities affected by structural damage, including sinking floors and cracked walls, by raising, re-levelling and re-supporting building structures
- Address fast deadlines by avoiding expensive and disruptive underpinning using Teretek, our proprietary, non-invasive resin injection solution that delivers proven results in a short timeframe
- Strengthen unstable ground and weak foundations without the need to vacate buildings or close public infrastructure.
- Increasing the lifespan of council owned historic structures, ageing infrastructure and high traffic areas using anti-corrosion and waterproof coatings
Success Story:
Filter ponds and clarifier tank at Glen Innes water treatment plant re-lined
Mainmark delivered a long-term asset preservation solution for a fresh water treatment plant at Glen Innes, New South Wales, with the rectification of linings for three filter ponds and a clarifier tank. The result of the project was the long-term preservation of the ponds and tanks. The drinking water-safe and chemical-resistant polyurea coating is expected to provide an effective lining for at least 20 years.

New Terefirm™ Resin Injection Delivers Seismic Strengthening Solution for Fully Operational Wastewater Treatment Plant
The Seaview Wastewater Treatment Plant is located in New Zealand’s North Island near an active seismic fault. The facility treats up to 53 million litres of water daily, servicing around 146,000 residents in Upper Hutt and Lower Hutt as well as a large number of local industries.
The facility has a number of rooms containing large pumps, generators and other sensitive computer and electrical equipment, making it nearly impossible to strengthen the facility’s resilience to earthquakes using conventional invasive methods such as stone columns, screw piles or jet-grout. Wellington Water selected Mainmark’s Terefirm™ Resin Injection after an open tender process, due to its unique and proven ability to be applied under existing structures.
Success Story:
Decommissioning redundant pipes
Terefil was used to fill an in-ground water pipe as part of an infrastructure upgrade project in the Hunter region of New South Wales. The lightweight cementitious fill is a proven and innovative solution for pipe decommissioning. In this case, the ageing pipe ran under a highway, school grounds and private land which meant digging it out was not feasible. Thanks to the Terefil’s pumpability, the entire 620m length of pipe was able to be filled from one single access point.
